About Neil Mansell

Neil has a wide range of experience with residential and commercial property in Chelmsford and the surrounding areas and has been involved in property and business since he was 3 days old! He grew up living in the back of his parent’s hotel in Dorset and also saw his Dad get involved in property development when he was a teenager.

Neil moved to Chelmsford in 1997 to study Business Studies at Anglia Ruskin University and graduated in 2001 and still lives in Chelmsford with his wife and children.

Keen to get involved in property, but not quite sure how to do it, he bought his first property in Chelmsford in 2005 when he undertook some property mentoring to learn about HMO’s (House of Multiple Occupancy). This continued to 2007 when he left full time employment to focus on his own property portfolio whilst also mentoring other investors around the UK via a property investment franchise that he was involved in.

In 2011 Neil became an author with his book ‘Wage Slave to Financial Freedom – How the right property investment strategy helped a first time buyer escape the corporate rat race’. – This was revised and updated in 2014.

From 2014 until 2021, Neil was also a Business Broker selling going concern businesses such as pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels, care homes and children’s nurseries in Essex.

Neil and Brian met many years ago when Brian came out to value Neil’s house in Chelmsford and on the 4^th January 2021 they launched McGovern & Co.
