I first came into contact with McGovern & Co when I made a Facebook post asking if there was such a thing as an “ethical” estate agency in Chelmsford. Several people recommended McGovern & Co on that post, and after doing a little research I decided to give them a call.

I initially met with Brian McGovern and discussed possible options for when I was ready to market my late parents’ property. A few months later, Trefor came to meet me at the house and went through everything I wanted and needed to know. The appointment was relaxed and unhurried, Trefor was very professional and efficient but at the same time kind and sensitive given what a tough thing it is to sell the family home where I was born and grew up.

Trefor gave excellent advice about a few last minute improvements we could make to help add a little “kerb appeal” and took beautiful photos which really showed the house and garden in its best possible light.

Within a week of going on the market, Trefor and Louise had skillfully arranged and conducted a whole day of viewing appointments, and come back to me with a list of offers for me to consider, all fully backed up with details of the buyers’ financial situations and chain involved, etc.

Throughout the entire selling process, I could always rely 100% on Trefor and Louise to help me out with anything. My calls were always answered, my emails were always replied the same day. Their communication with my buyers, and with the solicitors involved was always timely and accurate.

I never found myself leaving messages, or dealing with a “sales progression team”. I’ve never been spammed with emails and advertising from them. I spoke to the same people every time, and they took the care and trouble to get to know me, and to help me whenever I asked. It’s difficult to put a price on that.

If, like me, you’ve bought and sold a few times before, and you’re a little bit sick of the old pitches around sales statistics and potential “bidding wars”, you could do a lot worse than instructing McGovern & Co.
